Some time between the 1970's and the 1980's, Vygis' parents moved out of their levittown house in Allview to a luxurious model home in Highland. It had room for a grand piano in a stately conversation pit overlooked by the bedrooms from a balcony, a spacious open kitchen with granite countertops and a island with a stove in it. It was surrounded on three sided by a multi-level deck that his father had designed and built. It was surrounded by woods which became a hideout for Vygis and Joe, Highland was a distant satellite of Columbia, far enough out that as a town it was defined by a single crossroad containing a saddlery and a country store. Vygis' neighborhood was further down route 216 where it became winding and darkend by overhanging trees on both sides, part of a neighbohood laid down on an unfortunate plot of real estate that some farmer had been smart enough to sell out on before it became fashionable. The address was a fortunate one, however, when the movie Highlander came out and required of Vygis and most boys of his age to become fans. Just as Vygis never forgave the injustice of having had to move from Allview, he was similarlly wounded when his parents sold the Highland house and he was faced with yet another place to preserve from his past.
